backfire in my air box???

Your intake seals are probably leeking. Google search how to test for an intake leek. There's a lot of info out there on the topic. Fairly easy test. If they are leeking the fix will take you a Saturday afternoon and about $5.
 
Thank you!!!! @chicknstripn hopefully that's it... Would that cause the bike to lug or feel as if it looses power from about 3-4500 rpm??

Sorry, Chicknstripn…had too:) And yes, you're right. It's probably a vacuum leak causing it to go lean. That would cause a backfire and loss of power...
 
How's the throttle body look? Is it gunked up? mine used to get gunked and then pop in the air box coming off of idle. Still does sometimes when I do a lot of stop and go in rush hour. Now I usually run a fuel additive almost every tank when commuting. If I do not then I end up cleaning the throttle body with a spray can of cleaner. I usually do not get a major loss of power though, it just pops and goes. You will know for sure when changing the seals and get a look at the TB close up.
