ok I need some guidance please buell guru's!
Since I punched it out to an 1190 I figured I had best replace the clutch since it was slipping a lil bit at higher revs.
The old friction plates looked pretty good so it probably was slipping from something else.

I'm installing the Barnett kit and the manual says the first metal plate should be notched. The original did have a notch, but the Barnett does not. Does this matter? Also the sharp edge and the "rounded" side are nearly impossible to distinguish. I hope I got them all facing correct.

Ok y'all, I'm ready......it's ok to call me stupid, I've been called worse, I just don't want to button it all up and have f'd up something. Thanks in advance.....

you're referring to the metal drive plates. they are the plates with the teeth located on the ID and engage the input hub. look at each one at the top edge. you can feel and see the edge. one side is smooth and gently rounded to the touch...flip it around and feel and look at that edge. it is a pronounced sharper edge. they get installed facing the direction barnett describes in the manual or pamphlet that came with the kit. i believe the smooth edge faces out.

Thanks lunatic,
I think I have the edges right, what really concerned me is that none of the metal plates had the groove.

I just reused the one from the bike and substituted it for one of he Barnett plates. Make sure you measure he Barnett stacks mine were too tall.

I talked to Barnett customer service and was told to not worry about the notch, to just install it all and no worries. So now I'm super curious what the notch is for, I didn't see anything in there that looked like a notch.
I wonder if it's to flow oil better threw the clutch? Anyone know?

I honestly don't recall any sort of 'notch', on either plate, or in the instructions for that matter.
Regarding the sharp-vs-rounded faces of the drive plates, they are a function of the stamping process. You should be able to discern the difference by rubbing your finger over the edges.
measure he Barnett stacks
Yep. Soak the plates in primary fluid overnight first to that the friction material 'swells up' first.
