So, ive got a few new parts on the way for my '06 Firebolt. Naturally, I want to get my ECM adjusted to accommodate the new parts.

What is my best way to go about this? I dont even know where my ECM is, let alone how to adjust it using ECMspy. Would I be able to get my bike Dyno'ed and have them adjust it, or do I need to buy a programmable ECM/power commander to do that?

I will admit I know very little when it comes to that stuff. Mechanical work, great! Bodywork, great! ECM/Electronic stuff, NO IDEA. So any basic knowledge, help, or advice about the ECM and my options, would be great!

Just trying to get my bike to peak performance!

Your ECM is under the front fairing. Here's the ECMSpy download: ECMSpy. Go to ECMSpy.com and download the manual and read up as much as you can. Buy an ECMSpy cable off of Xoptiinside.com or Ebay so you connect to you're ECM. You can do it, but it will take some effort.

If you find it's too daunting, most Harley dealers or any shop that uses DirectLink and have a dyno can Remap for you. But if you do decide to do it yourself, you can do just as good with Datalogging: MegaLog Tuning.

That'll get you started. ;)[up]

Ahh I see, good to know stuff for sure, thanks! I will have to download ECMspy, order a cable, check it out and gauge my confidence from there. Those links (especially the one with the walkthrough) are super helpful/useful.

This brings me to my next (possibly stupid) question. Why would people spend 200+ bucks on a preprogrammed/race ECM when they could just drop 40$ get the cable and ECMspy and have the same results?

Why do people eat fast food? Why do people buy processed prepackaged dinners? Why do people drink crappy beer?

Because it's easy.

Welcome to America.
