i have recently gotten cought i the rain. my bike was doing fine then the engine light came on. i was about to get off the express way when the bike quit. the battery was dead. so i charged it and it still dies. the bike is still wet. what can i check or fix?

So you're saying the only problem is you can't get the battery to hold a charge? If so, take it to an autoparts store and have it tested under load...it's free.

The water won't have any affect on the battery itself and it's ability to take a charge.

Sounds like your getting water in one of the connectors. Get some dielectric grease and put in all the exposed connectors and the ones behind the pully cover. SHould help keep the water out. The good thing is it also helps cut down on corrosion. Just check all the connections that you can to make sure none are loose.

The bike dried out and all is good now. The dielectric grease was a good idea. Thanks for All the help .
