So i want to remove my belt guards, my question is, do I have to take the rear tire off? I really want to avoid that, I looked at it a couple times and I cant get the L t27 in there to get them off.

any pointers?

You need to take off the tire. I wait until I replaced the tires. It is way easy.

I didnt have to take off my tire. My ratchet didnt fit so i used the t 27 socket with some channel locks and it worked for me

Just take the 3 bolts off that hold the swing-arm support (if that's what it's called?) and remove the guards from there for the top one. Been a while since I removed mine but I know I didn't remove the tire...

I did not have to remove my tire to take the guards off.....2009 xb9sx...... took me all of 10 minutes.

have an '03 XB9SL, didn't remove the rear wheel either, did remove the swing arm brace to remove the guard and installed the lower guard from an '04, much cleaner look than the original

ok cool, cuz I just put new tires on and dont want to wait 10k miles to try it. Ill try taking off the swingarm brace tomorrow. Will I have access to the lower one as well?

Lower one is earlier than the top IMO top was a pain to match up the swingarm brace once I got it off but maybe I'm just special?

I have a 05xb9sx. I'm thinking the easy way is take off the top swim-arm section (3 bolts). Anyway I was also replacing the tires and it was good opportunity.
