Belt wear question

I have a XB12Scg and today I noticed some dust that appears to be from the belt. It seems to be building up around the top of the main pulley. I am new to Buell so I would like to know if this is a normal wear process for the belt. Also there seems to be a small notch developing in my belt on the side closest to the engine. Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot.

What year is it? I know that 2007 and newer Buells have a lifetime warranty on the belts...might be as early as 2006. Not sure about the notch, look behind the belt and see if there is any rub marks on anything back there.

It's a 2005 so I dont believe I qualify for a warranty on the belt. I tried taking the belt cover off the side of the engine but the screw furthest back, in the deepest hole would not come out easily. It just screws out right? its not reverse threaded or anything like that?

you should have a 40000km warranty on your belt.
