Belt Wear?

Is this normal belt wear with only 4000KMS on my 08 XB12SS?

I would say no. Looks like it is rubbing something, perhaps something stuck behind a belt guard.

I just got a new belt that looks almost just like that. I would say check to make sure it's not rubbing and if so fix it, but if not enjoy your rides.

Not sure its applicable but my FXSTI has 15000 on the belt and doesn't look near that used.

Hey tin man? Does it look like that all the way around? Mine has the same look in a few spots also. started to show around 300 KM

Looks normal to me both my Buells look the same.

looks normal to me too. the manual says some mold inhibitor will wear off and that is maybe why it looks different.

First, check to see if there's something rubbing inside one of the guards. That looks pretty normal though. Where you should be concerned is the teeth themselves. check the inside face of the belt and teeth for delamination and cracking of the rubber. Check the back of the belt (smooth outside face) for cracks and checking as well. A few threads coming off the outside edge of the belt shouldn't be much to worry about. If they a really hanging out there, trim them flush. Lightly singeing (sp?) them with a lighter also works to keep the fraying at bay. Hope that helps.
