Hey guys! Been a while, and looking for some guidance without bias.
I am looking at getting a bike again, and want your opinion. I know some of you deal or have dealt with touring and adventure bikes. I want something I can ride 1000 miles 5 to 6 times a year and have it be comfy. I NEED good milage but am willing to sacrifice a tiny bit of MPG for comfort or fun. I will be driving home to visit family, 500 miles every other month. Are there any bikes I haven't seen? I am considering the following:

Aprilia Shiver (add touring bits to make it more touring)
BMW GS800 ( a bit tall but would lower it a tad)
Harley Electra Glide (not sure if there is a way to get good MPG)
XB 1200 Lightning ( love em, not sure for touring and comfort though)
Triumph tiger EX (rode and was .."ok" )
and of course there is the reality i will ride with a passenger every now and then.

I would say a vfr800 or fz1 with emphasis on the vfr. Plenty of touring options, hard bags etc. Comfy. You can take the stuff off and still have some very spirited rides. Single sided swingarm on the vfr. If the riding position is still too aggressive for long distance you can get some bar risers to raise it up even more.

or for even more comfort but a little less sporty check out the yamaha fjr's

I had a vfr800 and it's a perfect touring machine. My Uly is as good. So you can't go wrong with either.
