Ya the dealer said that the regulator is bad on my bike to but I tested the stator and wasn't showing ANY voltage out put and thats from he stator wiring it's self we'll see tho

i called the dealer when i was trying to figure my problem out they said that they have to eliminate every other possible issue before they try the regulator because there is no way to test it other than taking it out and puting a new one in.

I am experiencing this same problem. Where is the regulator located and how can i check it? Unfortunately my computer will not allow me to get the pdf manual.

bottom right corner of this picture is the Voltage Regulator..

I have experienced the same thing and it has always been the battery terminals. As soon as it fails to start, I take off the seat wiggle the terminal and it starts right away. Just have to check they are tight before each ride.

thanks for the info, that was a stupid question i knew where the regulator was, I just didn't think about it. Anyway what should the voltage coming out of the voltage regulator be? I gather that out of the stator the voltage should be 32 to 40 volts from what i saw above in an earlier post?

according to the service manual.....

Battery Voltage
A Code 16 will set if the ECM detects battery positive voltage
less than 6 volts or greater than 20 volts.

A low voltage condition typically occurs during activation
of the starter or generally indicates loose wire connections.

A high voltage condition is usually caused by a faulty
voltage regulator.

I had a similiar problem in Brno, Czech. I stopped to unfreeze my GPS and turned the key on all was fine. Thumbed the started and all went dead. I jiggled the battery terminal after checking everysingle fuse on the bike and this flickered. Removed the accessory wires, fog lights and something else, and then screwed the factory lead back down and all was fine. It wasn't my Buell, it was on 06 Triumph Srint ST 1050, but same symptoms. Wish you luck bro.
