So I am coming home soon and have been buying parts for my bike as I plan on doing a major overhaul in the looks department and possibly some engine work.

What Im wondering is what tools should I have specifically to take this bike to the bones. I know there are a lot of members that have disassembled their bikes and have a lot of valuable information on tips and tools that came in handy. Anything would be appreciated =)

Torx set. Allen set and a ratchet set. Something to support the engine and something to hoist. Such as ratcheting tie downs holding from the rafters. If you just want the engine out that'll get you there. Reassembly you'll want something to compress the rear isolator so you can get the frame on

Get yourself two torque wrenches one in inch pounds and one in foot pounds. The HF units should suffice.

Lol I include those in my rebuild tools. As well as my ratchet category since they make it easier

Alright thanks, it sounds like I already have everything except for a torque wrench in ft. lbs.

+1 on wolfo

I think the largest allen bolts are 3/8 and I forget the largest torx. The other thing it patience. Move your parts a little bit and make sure there isn't anything else connected. Some of the connections are a little sneaky

make sure you unplug all the electronics when you take off the frame otherwise you would very easily break some wires
