All of us know how sketchy and dangerous it is out on the road as a motorcyclist.
But how many of you guys cycle on the road? I'm talking pedal power fellas.
I've been cycling about 14miles two or three times a week. And let me tell you, riding a bicycle on the road makes me feel safe on my motocycle!
People in their cages are SO inconsiderate. Whatever happened to SHARE THE ROAD!
BTW I'm NOT one of those Lance Armstrong wanna bees. No spandex gear here! I wear a helmet, long sleave shirt, gloves and cargo shorts when I ride. The lack of protective gear is what makes cycling feel so dangerous for me. I feel much more vounerable on my bicycle than I do my motorcycle. I'm always geared up on my motorbike but I don't think such protective gear would work on a bicycle.
Just wanted to vent about what Aholes cagers are. But you guys already knew that.
Be safe and as always WATCH OUT FOR THE OTHER GUY!

It's funny you bring this up. I am what you would call a cycling enthusiast, spending vast amounts of time on the road in tight clothes and I have had this exact same discussion with my wife. Drivers seem to give me plenty of room when I'm out on my XB, but when I'm on my pedal bike, it's almost like hunting season.

That being said, the coolest thing is exploring new roads on either the pedal bike or the Lighting and then going back to ride them again either way!

I still XC cycle a bit, but I've all but given up on urban cycling. I had enough incidents with cagers who were outright intent on killing, or at least injuring, me that the health risks started to outweigh the benefits for me.

I am also now a father & my priority is coming home to spend time with my child at the end of the day.

I've followed enough police investigations & court trials involving bicycle & car collisions to see that the law-enforcement & judicial systems are stacked against cyclists. There is usually an implied belief that the cyclist must have been doing something wrong, ignoring rules, or not wearing protective gear, as though any of that absolves cagers of their duty of care for other road users. So the risk of not seeing any justice after a collision is also not worth it for me.

Having said all that, the city I live in is in the process of building an entire network of dedicated & separated cycle lanes, so I'm hopeful I'll be able to get back into urban cycling someday soon! :D

Oh, & I've gotten into fat biking; no risk of sociopathic cagers out in the snowy woods!
