Hey everyone, new buell owner and new to the forum as well. Just bought an 04 xb12s and love it but wanting to change a few things and was wondering what you guys thought about black forks. Ive been seeing more of them lately and think they might look good on my bike. Any suggestions?

I say black out the forks or color match them to the frame along with the seat rails and you have a winner[up]

I personally love the black forks, assuming the bike is dark to flow, silver forks on a dark bike are out of place IMO.

Ya i was thinking about the seat rails too. The black rails and forks looks great on your bike xtreme

Anyone else who has blacked out forks feel free to post pics!

I am in the process. I am in the in between stage that everyone hates. I blacked out almost everything on my bike except for 1 big item....the forks. Waiting for winter to roll around so i can powdercoat them.

Ya i was thinking it might be better to powdercoat them. Sharp bike...I like the black set rails too

Thanks i am still in the middle of putting it back together. I will get some better pictures when it is done tomorrow. You can check my build thread if you wanna see a writeup about the process. I took a decent amount of pictures.

Black seat rails and black forks, plus painting those little red wing he'll guard things red would look super dope IMO (hopefully you guys know what I'm talking about with the red, forgot the actual name)

I painted my seat rails myself. Had the forks powder coated. You have to take them all apart but they should be rebuilt around 10-15k anyway. Hardest part is stripping them. I finally found a friend of a friend that had a bead blaster in his garage. A 12 pack later and they were stripped. My powder coater guy was going to charge 100$ but when I picked them up and he saw how excited I was he says " awwww, just give me 75".

Sikes! I agree with you 100% on the D n D!! Def get a lot of looks and makes the bike sound a million times better. And black forks will look great on your bike[up]

I highly recommned against powdercoating them- get them anodized instead (see the above pic of my wife's XB9...the blue is anodized.). Anodizing is not a coating on the surface that scratches off, which does 2 things for you in this case: 1) makes install easier, and 2) well, it doesn't scratch!
