Blacked out forks?

+1 I was just going with your thoughts, I feel buying the 09+ are anodized and the best option in my opinion.

It depends on how much you plan to spend, selling your forks and buying new is the easiest imo. Check buellparts.com they have the black forks listed if you can't get them from there check chicagoharley.com, latus-harley-davidson.com (some of the places I use other than my local harley dealership that is buell friendly) and see if they can get them for you around $ will be around 330 a fork but if you sell yours it will cover half or more of the cost.

The bike in my pic above, I completely rebuilt the forks (new seals, bearings, oil, etc) and had the uppers anodized for about $100 total. Powdercoating would cost about the same....either way you just need to find a good shop that is set up for (and willing to do) small batches.

I sent the fork uppers to Pete at Grand Stand Designs (www.grandstanddesigns.com) for the anodizing. Pete is a Buell enthusiast as well!

(if you look hard enough, you'll even find a pic of our forks on his site! :p)

just had mine powdercoated along with the rest of the bike

FYI. 09 forks won't fit on an 04. 04 has 41mm, I think it was in 06 the changed to 43mm.

Meh all you need is a new lower triple and the forks will fit just fine.
