"Blown Ignition Module" -am I getting hosed???

So I had my bike towed to a local shop last week because I couldn't fix it myself with a new ignition coil and plugs.. I finally talk to the guy today and he tells me the "Ignition Module was Blown...nothin going through it" and that it(the part) was gonna cost $349.00.

So.. first of all, does that make sense that my ECM(which I guess is what he is talking about) would be "blown" and causing the issues?

If so, are they about $349?

If so, should I have just ordered a race ECM instead and upgraded??

I'm so pissed... am I getting hosed?

Care to go through some of the symptoms? (or have you already?)

Ebay is a wonderful thing. You can pick up a race ECM for 199+shipping.

From the language the guy used it doesn't sound like he knows his ******* from his elbow. Just the impression I get from his description of the problem/fix.

i went through them in other threads but basically i was getting a really rough ride then backfiring and shutting down which got progressively worse. i thought it was my coil which was visibly cracked and i noticed one of my spark wires was all ******. replaced coil and plugs and still got the same problem. talked to the guy in his car and am wondering if he was even thinking of the right bike.. i'm gonna call tomorrow when he is in the shop to clarify
