I have about 10 or more feet of this blue LED lighting left over from a boat project and I was thinking of maybe putting some of it on the Buell. This stuff is very flexible and can be cut down into just about any length. Here is a picture of a small piece that I put some power to and just held it up on the bike to see what it might look like.
What do you guys think? I really don’t ride at night much at all and I really don’t care all that much about putting stuff like this on my bike but, I have it, and I like little projects so I thought I might do it just for the hell of it.

Yes, No, Maybe….. Thoughts please.

This subject has been covered many times. I personally hate LEDs and neons. That said i have them on my Buell under the hero blue air box and under the tail. They make me feel much safer at night. I know for a fact they saved my bacon at least once from a cager.

I have some blue ones on my firebolt, I dont ride at night time very much, so i seldom use them, but I think they are a pretty easy cheap fun mod

I don't know about you guys, but here( in Quebc) blue lights are prohibited by law. Blue lights are "reserved" for police only ....

I like LEDs on bikes as long as they arent over done and match the bike. It also helps some idiots see you at night.

Blue lights.... illegal on motor vehicles in just about every state.... unless law enforcement type vehicle.

If you look into this law more most states state that the colored light is ok as long as the source is not shown (AKA the bulb or LED).

I say go for it.

I just did the same thing on mine a couple weeks ago. Although the guys are right that the po-po may not be a fan, it's worth trying out and pleading 'increased safety' if stopped. If you get a ticket just unplug them.

my led & airbox thread

I don't mind LEDs as long as you....

don't have a million of them, hide and secure wires, see the light not the leds, remember that you or somebody will have to work one the bike at some point.

I did this EXACT lighting task, and I have to warn you...The exhaust side gets hot enough to discolor, and sometimes, melt the PVC jacket on these lights. It also makes the adhesive fail after about 3000 miles. I prepped, cleaned...etc. the surface before I applied them too. I will agree, at night, it looks badass, but it can get to be a headache very quickly.

Actually the Pennsylvania governor passed a law last year saying ANY COLOR light on a motorcycle in any direction as long as it isn't over doing is legal if it makes the motorcycle more visible to a larger motor vehicles such as cars..... I plan on doing some orange accents once I get the black body and all my other things done.

I have the same bike and color. I have blue LEDs run all under neath it . Looks cool at night. Their illegal on the road...but sure look good! Nice bike!

Looks good, I agree simple is better with lights. If you dont mind me asking, what brand are those lights? I might get some yellows.

I'd love to see the documentation on this. Last time I checked they allowed LED's that weren't red, blue, or flashing. And I have the PA law that states that. Carry around with me in my wallet so I can inform officers that my orange LED's are not illegal.

[down] I think it looks very tacky. Reminds me of high school kids with there first car dad gave them and that is all they can afford to do to it cause they have no job.

I like the looks of them on some bikes.
I didn't like the $180.00 citiation I got for mine here in Oklahoma.

Hey guys little problem here. I bought a plug in play LED tail light for my 05 XB12. Got it off eBay for $35. I also bought the exhaust emulator and it works fine. After I installed the new LED, which is a nice looking light that consist of about 50 or so LED's, and powered up the Buell the light was BRIGHT. The light wasn't getting any brighter when I applied brake. I put back the original light bulb and now its bright. The running filiment is crazy bright and the brake filiment barley light up when I appy the front and rear brake. What the hey is going on? I checked the plugs/connectors for front and rear brake sensor thingies and they both are connected well. Does anybody know what the problem could be? Thanks, Jon

Sounds like you have the the socket in backwards. That is if it came with that type of plug, does it plug where the stock bulb plugged in?
