Decided I would buy myself some boots for my birtyhday tomarra. I have some alpinestars for dirt but have never owned anything for street. Been looking around and don't know what to get. I think full boots are too much boot for me. Kinda like the shorty boots but again I have never owned a street boot. Any suggestions on something comfortable on and off the bike?

I wear Joe Rocket Meteors ( i think that's what they're called) Good boot, not too glamorous. comfy.

My riding shoes.

I've always loved Sidi boots, but I've never actually tried anything else. Alpinestars look like nice boots, and those Puma boots are really slick looking.

In all honesty, I had A* SMX's, hated them. I may pick up a pair of Sidi's in the future for longer rides. But I wear carbon toed Timberland's boots that are a bit reinforced in the ankle.

My Sidis are nicely vented, never notice the heat. Actually, there's a nice draft.

Let me limp away from an endo that broke my collarbone.

Let my walk away from a 100mph slide out.

Barely a mark on them.

I have the old Shift street shoes/boots, but had a friend get a nasty broken ankle with the same boots, so opted to get something with better ankle support. ended up with Dainese Torque out pro boots. Clean look without all the crazy graphics or clunky plastic parts.

I'd get them again, but go for the air option since they get warm.

I have the Shift Fuel Boots for my short around town rides and or to friends and Alpinestars SMX Plus for my long rides or rip up the road rides.

As for the long boot, I can wear them for 9hrs easy, BUT if you are going to do a lot of walking you wont want to wear them as they are anything close to a tennis shoe, but the Sidi boots arent either. I can wear the Shift Fuel boots all day as they fel like wearing a heavy shoe.

If I did it again I would snag myself up a set of Sidi short boots for around town but I may just do it next year. My Shift boots may or may have not help in my crash last year, I didnt break anything in my foot but could barely walk for a week due to slamming my heel into the concrete, but it may have been worse or the same with just some boots on. They didnt fly off at least. But I know with a more serious riding boot my foot would have been perfectly fine.

Shift Boots $100

Wow... thanks for all the ideas guys... I like the look of the shifts.. kinda what I'm after.. function without being too... racer x.

Nice flops thaloc. Sadly... see people wearing them with cargo shorts and a wife beater... nice neon gixxer bro! Natural selection [up] natures way of thinning the herd I spose.
