So I was on a ride in CT from Long Island and my bike died. I had the dealership install the upgraded charging harness in March and this was my first long ride of the season. That being done I figured if it was something they did when they did the upgrade they would make it right. Not so much, they diagnosed that the stator and voltage regulator are bad. 600+ for the stator and 130 for the regulator. I refuse to let them work on it for one I can do the work myself and two they want a grand total of 1300 for parts and labor. I have the manual and its calling for a couple of tools to do the job Alternator Rotor Remover and Crankshaft Locking Tool. Are these necessary? Or is there a way around it? Any suggestions would be helpful or anyone who has done this that has any tips would be great too.

i have a used mosfet vr connector all ready to install.

i think u can pull the rotor nut with a impact.

if you don't want to spend the 800 for the ebr kit custom rewind in alabama rewinds them for about 150

the problem is if the rotor has ANY defect from the stator burning out the stator wont last.....i think thats what kept happening to you RT.
Rt is right about the impact taking the rotor nut off heat gun will help. the camshaft locking tool is a must.
