While riding this week, everything was going smoothly - except for grinding into first gear from neutral (which it has always done since I got it). The shift lever became loose while i was in 5th gear (which it has done before, I've just rode the clutch to ride home in only 5th gear). But this time when I got to a stop light, I pulled the clutch, and it did not disengage. The bike stalled out, due to being in 5th gear, and me being stopped. I was able to shift into neutral and push the bike home.

The bike will start in neutral, but with the clutch pulled, shifting into first the bike launches forward, and stalls.

it is not like the clutch is half engaged, its fully engaged all the time. and I cannot disengage it. I have tried adjusting the cable.

WHATS HAPPENING?

worked on one today had same problem lever stayed on bar. was the bearing that the clutch rod spins in. 5 bux and a little work bearing number was; ntn 6200 japan.lol primary side, have to remove peg mount to pull cover.

Sounds like there could be something wrong with the internal clutch adjuster or the clutch release mechanism. I would open it up and do a good inspection of it.

i would replace adjuster bearing no matter the problem. lateral pressure on that type bearing is recipe for failure, this bike had only 4650 miles, bearing is cheap and easy to replace dont take a chance even if it is not problem.draining oil from primary sux too drain plug wont just come comepletly out.warm up bike-to help oil drain, unscrew plug as far as poss, let drain for an hour or so.u can take out primary chain adjuster in place of drain plug if u are comfortable with readjust.

u need long extension and a swivel to make peg removal easier. i also advise a little lighter primary oil than 50w. they run a bit cooler with lighter oil.fyi stick with 50w in motor tho.
