Horses for courses.... theres something out there for everybody.. I REALLY DO like some elements of the BOTT kits, especially when it mimics the flat tracker/Street tracker style similar to the HD XR750R. Or,, look at some of the
other flat track bikes of the 60s and 70s, Icons like Romero, Burres, Coppage, Van Leuwen, Sliding sideways on the San Jose Mile,,, pushing the envelope, that **** is cool. Triumph twins, BSA, Norton, Yamaha, and HD all battlling it out. Watch some you tube videos to see some wild stuff. I have met many of those guys, great stuff. Some of them are still around and show up to events.
Build your own version of one of these BOTT bikes, style it like one of those old Flat trackers, run some supertrapp stainless exhaust straight down the sides, Paint it Orange and Black, and you will have the old guys drooling. Instant cool points.
, here are 2 examples, the road race XRTT and the XR flat tracker. a few years ago HD came out with a knockoff version in 883 and 1200 cc form, I almost bought one... But you can build your own so much better and cooler. the BOTT Kit IMHO is very cool, but I fully admit overpriced, I am surprised that no one here in the US has come out with their own version.
Storz makes a good looking restyle kit,,,,,, and another company that escapes me right now, but both are spendy and depend on a Sportster platform, I think an enterprising group of lads could really come out with their own cool version for Buell owners who have crashed their bikes. Stop this silly parting them out business. Create a collective of rebuildable bikes, salvaged from the clutches of Insurance companys and miscreant owners who part out their bikes on a whim, create an affordable kit, and voila, a cool bike back on the road. Dont want your wrecked bike? Buy it back anyway from the Insurer and sell it to the Buell ranch for wayward Buells awaiting adoption by a enthused builder.
If i didnt have already WAY too many other projects, I would do it.
