What about the 1125r last year in Canadian Superbike, finishing third at Calabogie with Steve Crevier? That was against full on race liter bikes putting 40 more hp to the ground and weighing 30-40 lbs less than the 1125r. Plus, the 1125r was on a rear street tire cause the slicks wouldn't fit the Buell rim. Steve finished the season 7th in points against all those CBR1000s, Gixxer1000s, ZX-10s, and R-1s.....not too bad for it's first season out I think.
they just like to complain about displacement, but it only gets you so far. You still have to get the fuel and air in and out fast enough, that's where having four cylinders and twice as many valves is a bigger advantage that a V-twin. So they'll keep complaining that the 1125r has more displacement, and we'll keep complaining that they have twice the valve area and twice the pistons.
And the 1125r that was on the track last year was pretty much bone stock; no 'high performance' programmers, exhaust systems, cams, porting or polishing, clutch, nada. There wasn't jack squat available for racing mods last year, this year hopefully will be better. The 185hp, 360lb liter bikes that the 125hp, 400lb Buell ran with last year were far from stock. As the aftermarket performance industry starts tweaking and playing with the 1125r, it will most likely become more competitive as those components hit the track.
