Wait isnt EBR race only no commercial grade...I thought anything you buy from them you need a race licence

need a race license and can't register the bikes for street use...

Just my theory here... but it's the only way Erik could get Harley to let him use his patents (they own the rights to the patents). That's why he says that they'll be building the bikes "Under License". he's talked them into letting him use the Patents to build bikes that in no way will compete with Harley Davidson products.

So if Buell is going the racing route what about the stunt route? My Godbrother lives in Tampa and took this pic for me at a bike show down there.

@jl551c, the AMA Sportbike class requires that your bike be a production street model with homologated (approved) modifications to a limited group of items (like Brakes etc).

there are other classes such as the AMA Superbike class that are less restrictive.

I'm not so sure about needing a race license to get you hands on bikes and parts. Back in the day Yamaha dealers would sell you TZ stuff license or not. Neither I or my sponsoring dealer were ever questioned about buying Honda RS parts. I still have a few HRC parts around. All of it was CRAZY expensive but all you needed was the cash. Wayne

To race in AMA don't you have to have a MC that is also available to the public?  How can he race if these bikes won't be in dealerships?
That wasn't an issue with DMG/AMA and the preliminary "homologation" of the 1125RR. My NSHO is that one of the reasons for the existence of EBR is to maintain the illusion of the RR as a "production" bike.

I think to homologate, you only have to put a certain number on the road and if the race bike still reflects the last generation of production bike, then the 1125r can race as is forever, but as the competition improves their production bikes, they will leave buell behind if buell doesn't build anymore production bikes. This could be wishful thinking, but buell production might happen again in the next couple of years.
