our records indicate you are the owner of a 2003-2006 buell XB9R or XB12R firebolt model motorcycle. Buell motorcycle company has determined that headlight assemblies on some 2003-2006 buell firebolt models have a reflective material which can potentially degrade over time and reduce light output.

in the intrest of customer satisfaction, buell distribution company, LLC is offering a no cost replacemet of the low - beam and high beam headlight assemblies on the affected motorcycles.

while this is not a safety issue, we do urge you to contact your authorized buell motorcycle dealer as soon as possible to schedule an appointment to have this no-cost service performed. the service will require less than one hou to perform. due to scheduling however, the dealer may request to have your motorcycle for a longer period of time. kit availbility at your dealership will begin the week of 7/14/08

this no cost offer will expire two years from the date on the program announcement which would be july 10, 2o1o

to verify that the service has been completed, your dealer will ask you to sign an acknowledgement when you pick up your motorcycle.

if you have replaced the headlight assemblies for loss of reflective material prior to receiving this notification, you may be eligible to receie reimburstment for that expense. for more informatuon in the united states contact buell distribution company, LLC at 1-414-343-8400. in other markets please contact your regional buell customer service center.

thank you for your cooperation. we regret any inconvenience this may cause, but we have taken theis action in the intrest of your continued satisfaction with our product

Cool thanks...sucks because im the 2nd owner on mine :(. Doubtful that i'll get anything in the mail, probably have to make a call or appt. at the dealer.

Hey dozer, if you go online to buell.com you can register your bike and give them your contact info that way if there are any recalls like this in the future you will be notified. All you have to do is give them the VIN. I'm the third owner of my Buell and I still received the letter. Just go to the owners tab and register, its that simple.

indeed [up]

I got the letter in the mail a week ago or so as well. Right now I am selling my race ecm and race pipe so the bike will be down until next year but that is ok. I might have to go get it done before I take the pipe off.

Ok cool...everytime I remember to do it I forget my to have my vin# on me [mad]. I wrote a note and stuck it in my pocket [up]

Thanks for the info tmsimms! I wasn't aware that they were going through with that program. I knew there was talks about it not too long ago.

yeah its cool that they did this, like they said its not really a safety issue but it shows they care if there taking the time and the money to fix this problem

Not all bikes from 06 are in this. I checked with the dealer on my 06 xb9r, and mine wasn't. Be sure to call it in, or check on the website with your vin number.

Is it possible to have Buell just ship us the part? My nearest shop is 1 1/2 hours away and they want to keep the bike for a day or two.

nope, if it's a warranty or recall thing, an official dealer must perform the 'repair'.

has any one tried to do the refund if you replaced the lights your self. i would rather do the repair my self and have them send me the money

I replaced the low beam a few months ago. I faxed my receipt to Buell and they are sending me a check. I have not received the check yet though. I took the bike in to get the high beam replaced and the shop guys must not have read the work order because they replaced both of them any way.
