Someone told me the XR1200 is close to the Old Buell X1 Lightning. Has anyone that owns Buell taken the XR for a test ride?? If so what do you think about it.

the XR is quick, smooth, quiet for a race inspired HD. There light comin off the ground. They corner really well. With the raised bars its more like a sit up and ride type bike. The knee area is the same as the Buells. The 180 on back is a def for good balance/control. It will make 4 a good chop later on down the line as far as cafe racers go. Not as sporty as the Buells, but overall its a good compilation for a commuter. [up]

I like to think of it as "an old man's buell" And I don't mean that as any disrespect. It has a more upright, less aggressive rider position. I still has Buell power, and it can still take a turn pretty damn well. But I feel it is a bit to tall and top heavy for my tastes. If you're hesitant to get a buell because of a concern for comfort, I would seriously consider the XR.

heavy & doesn't brake (it does, but with the weight, it just takes longer)

and to me, it's nothing like the x1...the buells still corner far better!

I will be offering test rides to riders in our area next week 15-18 for anyone that wants to test ride a XR1200 and XB12SS back to back. And if anyone has an old X1 bring it on by and sit on the XR and tell me what you think.

The Sportster is very heavy compared to a Buell. Probably 200lbs diff. With less brakes. Glad the Sporty is not tuned as much as the Buell.
