Hey guys, i was looking around on the ":buell owner age" thread and it made me curious. I remember when i bought my blast a few years ago, (when i turned 18) and was a pretty large guy at 5'8 240lbs. I have gotten my weight down to between 160-165 lbs. I remember people telling me that the blast wouldnt have been a good for me at my weight AND height. many people told me buells are "made for short people" and i dont know if i would call myself necessarily 'short' but more of an average height/weight. How big do you think it too big for buells? afterall, supposedly Erik Buell designed the bikes all to fit his frame and he was not giant either. Have you guys seen some pretty big guys and gals on these bikes?

I started on a blast at 6'3" 180lbs... I now ride an 1125Rat 6'5" 260lbs. I thought I was big on my old blast... slightly resemblant of a monkey humping a football... I do not think I look too big on my 1125R though at my current height/ weight.

yeah, i think it's a lot about the bike too. My XB9 actually feels tighter and more nimble than my blast did, but at the same time, it feels roomier. kind of like comparing a 1990 camaro Iroc Z to a 2012 Audi RS4. even thought he audi is a LOT bigger, it'll feel much smaller

I'm 5'8" 150 and my xb9r with s tail custom low saddle and lowered front fits me like a glove. I recently got a 12scg to replace the 1125r I let go back cuz I'm not paying Harley if they can't keep the bike on the road. I was just getting the 1125 where I liked it but it had a select saddle which sat pretty high which WAS comfy but still too high. The scg is like a glove. A fingerless glove ( it needs a fairing I'm thinking 1125r maybe) but still a glove.

5'7" 150-160lbs XB12Ss, little on the tall side but while ridding the ergos fit me perfectly. Tried a shaved seat to get my feet closer to the ground and it killed to ergos, bike was no longer comfortable for more then 60 miles or so. I've thought about lower suspension but I ride back roads all over the mountains and tend to use all of the taller Ss suspension.

...now that's funny.

I'm 5'11 200lbs and my '09 Scg Lightning feels fantastic, couldn't possibly be happier.

wanna know what was an absolute RIOT? when i was almost 18, i didnt really have much of an interest in street bikes at all. I was actually building a supermoto out an old yamaha 2 stroke enduro bike, but i saw a buell blast in town for 800$. It came with Both seats, a windshield, fresh oil, a K&N filter, and new mirrors and grips. it was ridden by a 65 year old woman, and she rode for a total of 4,000 miles while she had it. I told my dad about it because he was always talking about "saving gas." He ended up buying the bike for himself. Keep in mind, at the time, my father was 56 years old, 6"4, and around 350lbs. I have seen shriners at parades before on mini bikes, and this would have fit right in. After him going on several rides with his best friend, even his buddy said the bike was really too small for him. He then that weekend went out and bought an '84 suzuki gs750t with only 6k miles on it, for 1100$. he said he had to make his money back, so he asked if i would sell it (the blast) for him, or i could buy it from him for the price he paid (800$, and at that point, he had put perelli MT75 summer tires on it as well as a V&H exhaust and re-jet kit). i did not have the money, but he ended up letting me have the bike on his own "payment plan" of basically 50$ a month until it was paid off. Well, i had a very successful christmas/winter season at work and paid it off early.

long story short, i rode the bike for a year and a half, and after losing a race to a pontiac sunfire, and a honda del sol in the same day, i decided it was time for something new. i sold my 2001 Blast for 1800$, and all i did was some super bike bars, header wrap, and replace the rocker box gasket with a cometic one. on top of that, it needed a new tire because i wore that perelli out in a little over 1 year and 4k miles.

i guess this story drug out a little more than it needed to. my main point was that a 6"4 350lb man on a little blast looked hilarious, and he cant even really sit on the lightning because there isn't any room for his "extra baggage"

5'8" and 160 lbs. My 9R fits me just fine. I can flat foot it with my boots but just barely not with my shoes (not that I ride in shoes).

What??

Me.

another good question. the XB9 has real small foot controls. how big are all of your guys' feet? I wear a sz12 and wanted to get some good boots. probably some alpinestars with the toe sliders. would my sz12 feet with boots still be able to manage the foot controls on my xb9?

yes. I wear a 12EE or 13E depending on the shoe/boot. IIRC, my A* are a 50 or 52 Euro. Foot controls are fine, other than at "steeper" lean angles, I have a hard time getting my toe out and around and under the shifter on left handers. GP shift fixed that though.
