wanna know what was an absolute RIOT? when i was almost 18, i didnt really have much of an interest in street bikes at all. I was actually building a supermoto out an old yamaha 2 stroke enduro bike, but i saw a buell blast in town for 800$. It came with Both seats, a windshield, fresh oil, a K&N filter, and new mirrors and grips. it was ridden by a 65 year old woman, and she rode for a total of 4,000 miles while she had it. I told my dad about it because he was always talking about "saving gas." He ended up buying the bike for himself. Keep in mind, at the time, my father was 56 years old, 6"4, and around 350lbs. I have seen shriners at parades before on mini bikes, and this would have fit right in. After him going on several rides with his best friend, even his buddy said the bike was really too small for him. He then that weekend went out and bought an '84 suzuki gs750t with only 6k miles on it, for 1100$. he said he had to make his money back, so he asked if i would sell it (the blast) for him, or i could buy it from him for the price he paid (800$, and at that point, he had put perelli MT75 summer tires on it as well as a V&H exhaust and re-jet kit). i did not have the money, but he ended up letting me have the bike on his own "payment plan" of basically 50$ a month until it was paid off. Well, i had a very successful christmas/winter season at work and paid it off early.
long story short, i rode the bike for a year and a half, and after losing a race to a pontiac sunfire, and a honda del sol in the same day, i decided it was time for something new. i sold my 2001 Blast for 1800$, and all i did was some super bike bars, header wrap, and replace the rocker box gasket with a cometic one. on top of that, it needed a new tire because i wore that perelli out in a little over 1 year and 4k miles.
i guess this story drug out a little more than it needed to. my main point was that a 6"4 350lb man on a little blast looked hilarious, and he cant even really sit on the lightning because there isn't any room for his "extra baggage"
