Hi

I want to buy my 1st buell..

I'm looking for a scg.. I'm 6'1 feet tall and someone told my that a SCG will probably be to low for me?

Is that right?

My girlfriend has a Scg and I am 5'10" and I wouldn't want the seat height to be any lower. If it is just the lower stance you like you could always get the higher seat and still retain the seat height you would need being as tall as you are.

For a guy of your height, you should look into the XB12Ss. Its made for taller people. The Scg is going to feel like a 8 year olds bike to you. The Ss is taller and longer.

Nothing helps prove a point like photographic evidence. Ask my PO.

ROFLMAO!

Kidding.

But yea dude, rock the Ss

You just have to try and see what feels good for you.
I'm 6'4 and love the way the SCG feels

There is definitely a range of personal preference. At 5'6 I am almost flat-foot with the stock ss seat (curiously, the ss touring seat which is lower is higher for me, because it is wider, I think). Face it, all but the uly are pretty small bikes, compared to most sport bikes. Try them out, and you will know what works for you.

Just depends. I'm 6'2", 195lbs and I have an 08Scg. I really like it alot, especially since I swapped my bars to the firebolt set-up. I think its a more comfortable since I have longer arms and now I can lay down oon the gas tank easier and rest my elbows on my knees.

I think mostly what works for me, is it feels more like you're sitting in the middle of the bike (much like a cruiser feels) instead on TOP of the bike, like many jap bikes i've had before.
if that makes sense to you.
but again-whatever feels right to you will be the answer.

hi buellnoobie and others,I have an 08 scg and weigh 210.im 5'9''and fit well and love the feel.however my weight should have mattered more in my decision to buy the scg.Only say this because without the preload and dampening settings about maxed out, when ridden agressively the front end is bottomed out.I believe the additional travel and extension would allow milder but more effective settings.Ihope this helps

buelladdicted, I agree.
I'm 5'9" 200lbs and do a lot of city riding. The front end of my 09 Scg often bottoms out to the bump stops. It doesn't do it under normal conditions, but when I hit a good bump it will bottom out. Frustrating.

Rabbit the frames are different. The Ss and Uly have a larger frame, that is why it looks different.

It's all in the inseam guys. My legs are so short they barely touch the ground. The low fits me perfect.

Guys that are short and husky, could go with a regular XB and get the low seat. That way you would have the lower seat height with all the suspension travel.

Just my 2 cents.

im 6 foot 1 as well
i love the way the SCG feels

just goto the dealer, sit on it
if you like it, then get it!

don t want to jack this thread but----kbaddict what year is the fire bolt bars? Did they just bolt on with no mods???Oh ya your lightning looks sick!!!!!:)

I bought the top triple tree assembly for a XB12R(I think an 07 or 08 will work) and the master cylinder from the XB12RR and followed a write up that was done by shiloh on this forum. It takes a little bit of work though but I think it looks way better than going the aftermarket route. If you do it right you can re-route your clutch and throttle cables so they run behind the plastic fairing in the front and out the sides. That way you have a clean look up top.

The link to the write-up and the part# to the master cylinder is in this thread. If you have any questions? [email protected]

Kbaddict have you ever riden a firebolt? If so how is the feeling with the S tail and the R handles?
