He will always have the passion an. That does suck bout the families tho I think harley def shouldn't have just shut them down I think they should have gave it back to erik idk but all co. Are having a hard time with the way the ecom is goin no one wanted to spend the money on a new buell an I wish they would have sold more an stayed open but I do like being the only buell on the roads where I live

gerald,

you really need to do some research because buell did not have a decrease in sales in fact it was quite the opposite. Buells were killed off because the new boss of H-D thinks racing to sell bikes(and cars for that matter) Is a bad business scheme.

Hey Gerald, how about you stop making me feel old here and use full words in your sentences. ;)

this thread is interesting--i was thinking this can't be the end of the road for Erik Buell back in Oct. when HD announced Buell was getting the axed.

But looking at EBR taking shape my bet would be that the "new Buell" (whoever purchases it) will live on with bikes powered by the 1125 Rotax engine not the HD powered ones. Which would be sad because there is definately something cool/special about mating Buell's mad ideas with an iconic HD V-twin engine and making the madness work.--that was a big part of what set the XB bikes apart from everything else out there

While the xb mish-mash is awesome (I love my lightning) something about having all the cutting edge tech in one tight little package does make my heart race. Hence why if I don't have the option of buying a buell in 2 years I will prolly get a VFR even if it is ugly as sin or a KTM... I know blasphemy isn't it

meh, i would still rather see them with harley. i know it's not extremely appealing. but i'd hate to be the owner of a bike produced by a company that got ax'd by an american maker and picked up 'from the curb' by a foreign maker.

my bike says
' buell '
' american motorcycles '

call me a purist, i'd like to keep it that way.

I wonder if Erik is'nt just ready to retire soon. I'd like to know what his thoughts are. Are you out there Erik?

I know we all would like to know what's really goin on an like matt said I am all bought them being with harley if they weren't I Probly would never buy another one

browland--i hear you. I was thinking new VFR or Ducati multistrada... (boss will need to give me a raise though).

I am so disappointed in the new VFR! It's fugly for sure. I know the V4 is a great motor but I loved the way the old Interceptors looked. Oh well, I've been looking at the Aprilia RSV4's too and would probably go that route myself.

I would so be down for a middle weight water cooled twin from buell I rarely go over 100 so not much need for the big bore twin except a bit of extra grunt
