Buell Wheels Question

So I was having my rear tire replaced and the mechanics told me that my bearings have gone out too. They told me that I have to get a completely new wheel since the bearings are press fit into the wheel. This sounds way fishy to me and I wanted to know if this was really true.

I bought a set from vurban-industries on ebay. He seemed to be a good guy and a decent price. He even did the research to make sure I was buying the right part first.

Hope that helps.

...moral of the story is, take it to someone who knows what they're doing...

agreed, if they are trying to con you on that or are simply too dumb then do not trust them to work on it.

Lol my local garage which I trust to do my MoT's refuses to change the tyres on my Buell due to how fiddly it is removing the wheels! He said from now on I need to bring just the wheels.

Now, a bearing can get so bad that it'll either spin itself inside the hub (in this case the hub being a rim) or sieze itself to the hub.. Both would require a new wheel but I highly doubt either happened or the bike would be next to unridable. IMO you would have known there was something REALLY WRONG...

It was the South Valley Harley-Buell Dealers in Utah. Needless to say I have taken my bike to another shop with people that know what they are doing.

I have already written a big ole google review detailing my experience with their shop. I work as an internet marketer for a living so their rating of the next couple of months on google will drop.

i wish i was around for the days when you could get away with throwing a brick through someones window if they were an asshat. (that happened right?) now its a "ill get you through google," which is probably more effective as sad as it may sound. and im not calling you out ive done the same thing, just something i think about.

I completely agree, internet marketing is hard work. For this experience I am grateful to this forum for saving at least $250 for a part I didn't need.
