buell xb12r wont stay on

I have a 2003 buell xb12r it turns on but wont stay on it shut off when its just idling

In 03 they did not make a 12 only a 9. Your bike is probably a 04 12r .

how long does it idle before it dies? does it shut off like you hit the kill switch or what?
