Does anyone know exactly what disconnecting the white wire on the xb9 does? What is this wire for?

I just reran a bunch of my wires and one of the headlight wires is white.

So I imagine it is the low beam and it would then allow you to drive with no running light. Just a guess.

white wire in grey plug connects to a sensor which keeps the exhaust within environmental standard.

if you have a race ecm, this does not matter, since it is not taken into account by the ecm

instead of cutting it, do this and seal of the hole in the connector to protect it.

I unplugged this wire and it didn't really seem to make a difference, so I just plugged it back in.

plz note, that if you have a race ecm installed, this mod is useless.

why?
cause the race ecm doesn't send a pulse over the white wire.

why not?
because the signals sent over the white wire is for environmental related/fuell emission laws, which limits the performance of the bike.

If I pull this wire is there anything else I need to do before riding? [confused]

Adding on to what I asked..
I have a K&N Air Filter, Jardine Exhaust, And a Dobeck kit. Will I be able to tell a difference right away?

i don't know how it will be in combination with the dobeck kit, normally there should be a noticable difference.

but i would suggest not to cut the wire, but use the method mentioned above. just unplug the wire, testride and if you're pleased with the result, finish the work.

Hmmm.. I can't help but be doubtful of this white wire's PFM (pure friggin magic)..... I'd love to get more performance, but does anyone know what this wire is actually for? I really don't want to try it without knowing more about what's on this wire. Is it an input to the ecm? I'm an auto mechanic and I've never heard of disconnecting a wire for more more performance. If there's free horsepower lurking somewhere in my bike, I want it! If anyone knows more about this wire and its relationship to the ecm, please let me know. I enjoy the technical stuff so bring it on!![smirk]
