Hey everyone. Wondering about those of you with kids. Do you take your kids on your motorcycle? If so how old are they and what kind of trips?

I have a 12 yr old that absolutely loves riding with me on my Bolt.. He's been on the back of my bikes since he was 5 and he's willing to put in however much time I'm willing to take him for.. At times I have to check to make sure he's still there though he's so comfortable he barely holds on..

Two boys here 15 and 12,15 yr old tells me only one set of ball on a bike at a time hahah so he wont ride with me any more but next year we will ride together he wants sportbike. The 12 yr old still will go on day rides with me.We'll get lost from town to town get lunch ice cream and make a day of it.Soon have riding buddies for life cant wait.

My boys are 5 and 3 so no, no rides yet. I'm really contemplting getting the big one a helmet so he can go for an occasional ride with dad.:D I'm hoping one of them ends up with my wanderlust so I'll have a road trippin' buddy when I'm older (the wife HATES to travel).

I took my 9 year old daughter to the gym/pool over the weekend. She fits my wifes helmet perfect and can wear her jacket although it is a bit big.

It was a short 3 mile ride with 35mph top speed. She loved it and can't wait to go again. She held on and followed all directions perfectly.

On the way I had several people looking at us I like I should be arrested for having a kid on the back. I don't typically care what others think, but it made me start wondering if I was being stupid.[confused]

saw a harley guy at an AMA race with his ~5yr old daughter on the back of the bike. A cop stopped him, but was likely due to the fact she was wearing sandals, shorts, a tank top, and a helmet that she was swimming in.

I grew up on the back of my Dads bike. People should mind there own business. If I ever have kids they will definitely be riding with me if they so choose.

since my daughter is 1 she hasn't ridden yet. but when she's older we'll definitely be going for rides

I have two kids. Sabienee who's 14months and Vance who will be 3 in November loves riding the bolt and will pretend by himself whenever he can. i just take him down the sidewalk slowely sitting in front of me on the air box cover. He LOVES motorcycles and actually has an ear for them, when they roll through our neighborhood and we're out in the garage he'll run out to see what it is and say "motor-cicle, vroooom vroooom, eeerrrrrrrrr! (tires squeling)" thats how i knew he was mine.....no DNA test required :) cant wait to get him a little bike like crf50 or something like that.

I'm in the same boat as many of you. I have a 5yo, a 3yo, and a 7 1/2 month old, and none of them have been on the bike yet. The older 2 are like yours, Ngh, whenever they hear an American-sounding bike, they run to the window. They aren't as thrilled over the rice-burners. If they see any motorcycle, though, they say "that is like your bike, Daddy!" I'm waiting for the 5yo to start riding though.

I take my 8 yr old and 6 yr old out all the time. Short local rides though only. They love it!

I used to take my daughter for rides all of the time when I had my XB9. She has all of the necessary gear. Her favorite was when we pulled up to the school on her first day of Kindergarten. Since then she finally admitted to me that she kind-of falls asleep on the back of the bike. She has not been for a ride since.

My girls are 9,13, and 16 years old, and all have been on neighborhood rides with me. Since the first of the year I've been picking up gear for them so that they can go on some roadtrips with me. So if any of you see childrens or ladies gear on close out, Post Up, I still have a few things to get. Plan on taking them to CYCLEGEAR in AUG and getting them all a pair of boots. Like a helmet, I want to make sure they fit, and that they don't totally hate them. We all know how women can be about shoes!

Yeah, I'm not ready to take my son out yet. He's 5 and he has does not yet focus and follow directions everytime. Plus he would need gear I don't have.

I kind of think it is up to the parent to know when the kid is responsible enough to be safe. I know my daughter will follow every direction everytime. Now I am with Raz65man. I need to get her boots and gloves for longer rides. Need to watch for bargins.

I have an 18month old daughter that loves riding with me. One of first words was bike, and if she goes to many days with out a ride she gets real pissy

I had a 2006 sportster That me and my 2 year old son Put a ton of miles on. He loves to ride motorcycles. Dirt bikes quads you name it he's a real motorhead. Yes I have a helmet for him it took me forever to find 1 the right size. He is 3 year old now And I have an 08 1125 r. Worst trade I ever made. Don't get me wrong the bike is fun But it's completely worthless to ride with my son on. If I could go back I would have got a uly instead.

I have a cousin who's 8.She rides on the back of her dad's honda shadow (with backrest, hard bags, highway bars, etc) and he has one of those belts with the small set of grips in the back. She wont come near my bike though. Shes says she wants to ride on the back of mine but whenever I start it up, she chickens out because of the exhaust. I'll admit, I'm not so sure its a good idea either because of the aggressive position of the bolt, when she's used to waving at people on the back of that ocean liner. I wouldn't go fast or anything, but I don't think shes ready yet.

I just started riding with my 8 year old daughter, Olivia. Before we went out for the first time we practiced in the garage for the better part of a year doing stuff like getting on and off the bike, putting helmet and gear on and off by herself, and just getting used to being around the bike and talking about riding and safety.

We read the chapter in Lee Parks Total Control book on riding 2 up and reviewed all the MSF material I have on hand about riding too, she was really anxious after all that to get on the bike and go for a real ride.

We got a junior size helmet for her and made sure she had decent riding clothes. I'm not completely happy with all her gear at this point, but we're working on that...it's hard to find good stuff that fits well. We've been on three rides, all under 50 miles so far and she really likes it but said she got bored on the last ride which was only 10 miles so I'm not sure what that means. We use a Scala Rider G4 to talk back and forth and that really helps the comfort level.

I have a friend who just rode his Honda ST1100 5000+ miles across the country to British Columbia and back with his 12 year old daughter...can't wait to do that!

Here are some pics, one with my son Lucas on the back; he's 4.
