Connecticut for now....
So my son and I are building a pinewood derby car for cub scouts.... i think we go carried away- Wood is all CNC'ed and everything else is 3D printed in SLA and FDM. Currently all assembled with wheels and axles it only weights 3.4 oz... so we are adding tungsten putty to the underside to bring it to the max of 5 oz.

Damn I thought I went too far with 6 coats of primer and 4 coats of clear. (Basf paint not cheap stuff)20160121_195028.jpg20160114_183137.jpg
We won best of show, I think you guys will for sure!

Jeez Marc, that thing is unreal. Not that any of us would expect anything less from what we have seen you fab up. Good luck but I don't think you'll be needing any luck on that one. Buelly very nice paint work I know you do that for a living but it's still sweet man. Nice job guys.....

I've got a tall order from my son this year. He wants to build the suicide squad purple lambo....

handed the parts off to my son and hes working on painting and assembly. Need to finish it up tonight as the race is tomorrow morning. Have been reading alot about bent axles and rail riding so this morning I machined up a tie to bend all 4 axles at once to a 2 degree angle

wheels are all polished outside and inside the hubs and all rubbed down with graphite. Also using BSA Pro Graphite axles that ill be bending.

we always put graphite in on the wheels and made hubs to hold it in, always seemed to help them spin better. I believe they still race my car as the defending champion from almost 20 years ago.

sorry, havnt been on lately.... that purple paint looks fantastic... i didnt feel like going all out on paint, haha, so these were just rattle canned.

My daughters girl scouts did the powder puff derby, so we used the same design but made a vert.

Both did very well. Son made it to finals for his troop and ended up 3rd place overall. My daughters was weird the way they did it... but there were freaking 90 cars running. All the cars she raced against she won... but that didnt place her at all. Oh well, we had fun building them !! and I learned a lot for next year as this was the first time we have done this.

Both cars fully assembled only weighted 3 oz .... so We ran 2 oz of tungsten puddy in the pockets machined around the rear axle.
