Hey, I am about to purchase my first New bike and wanted to know how much Dealers are usually willing to haggle. All of my previous bikes have been used and I am not familiar with Bike Dealer's protocal. I live in the SoCal area, and would purchase my bike from the Irvine or Corona dealerships.

Also, I stopped by the Irvine HD Dealer over the summer and they said the 2009 Buels don't come in until November of 2009. Does that sound right, even with the '09 models already posted on the web?

Thanks for any feedback!

i bought my 09 xb12r two months ago. walk in there with a blank check or loan. i did, and i got 1,000 dollars off sticker price.

I talked a dealer down $2000 last year but then decided to go for a used bike.

The less interested you are the more they will be willing to drop. Also something a lot of people always fail to do is ask for a riding jacket, helmet, and gloves after all your negotiating is done to seal the deal in your sale.
Even If you don't need them get it and sell it on eBay. Don't hint that you want the gear till the end so you get the lowest price on the bile and then some free gear.

Good luck

I'm pretty sure HD dealers only make something like $500 on each bike. I think the only way you could get a good discount is if it's been on the floor for over a year.

I got $2000 off of MSRP, but that was on a bike that have been hiding up in a window for a year.

Do they have any 08's left? If they do, wait till the 09's come in then deal on an 08 if they have what you want( dont worry bout color, if you get a steal on an 08 the difference in price would more than pay for a plastic swap ) Typically, on a new model the discounts are slim or non existent, unless you walk in with cash, then maybe..but doubtful.

Thanks, Everyone!

I appreciate the feedback. It seems very similar to a car purchase. The more demand, the less discounting, and vice-versa.

I would wait until the 2009 models come out, then buy the 2008, but the '08s are all gone as well. Doh!

From what I gather from all these posts as well as others, a Buel is well worth full pop! Also, the used XBs are holding their value, so I can make up the difference when I sell her.

I will haggle my ass off, and let you know how I do.

Thanks Again!!!

Good luck!! Also if you are a cash buyer and know what you want you can always look out of state. Some dealers may still have 08's left, be willing to discount ( with winter approaching ) and ship!!
