Wow glad your alive bike looks trashed. Sucks about the insurance.
Who's helmet? You should shoot them an email thank them for saving your life
most will offer u a new one if you send the damaged one back in with a police report
I took 10 years off of riding after my wreck.
Heel fast

That is sobering to see. What type jacket did you have on? Hope your young and heal fast.

wow that's rough, glad you are ok. thanks mainly in part to your brain bucket, VERY glad you decided to put it on last minute!

I must be missing the helmet in there somewhere, I do see the shield.

as a whole it doesn't look that bad. it looks like the triple clamps broke sacrificially saving the steering head and maybe even the forks (I cant tell from that angle) no frame dents on that side of the bike. the subframe is clearly broken and wires and cables are most likely shot and the front fairing mount is too.

I have seen much worse get back to ride able again. that is if you decide to get back in the saddle.

I'de agree with evil, front tire probably contacted pavement while off the throttle. bumpy roads and short wheelbases beware. Sorry bout the calamity, heal up bro.

Very sorry to hear this but am glad to hear your OK. Hopefully, there is some way you can keep the Buell in the end. Heal up.

Glad your o-k. There are already news stories of bikers that didnt fair as good as you did, like the bikes that were rear ended by a truck killing two of them. It really causes you to be thankful every time you can still park your bike at the end of the day. Is tank slap the same thing as bar swap? Steering dampners fix that problem right?

Yikes, that sucks man, what's the left side of the bike look like? The right side honestly doesn't look all that bad, as far as rash and broken things go. The subframe is toast, and the top/bottom triples are broke, but from what I've heard they're made to snap before the frame does so I'd say there's a chance the frame and forks could be ok. You obviously want to get it checked out but a new subframe, plastic, triple clamps, and a few other parts and you might have something to work with.

Glad you made it through ok!

Glad to hear you threw on the helmet! Heal up and get the reminants checked out. I agree with UTM, good time to rebuild if you can.

I have never heard of bar swap before (or bar slap in case you misspelled) but a tank slap can potentially be avoided with a steering damper.

here is one related to lifting the front/rear tire

I raced motocross for awhile and that was the term I heard. Bar swap, (handlebars swapping from one side to the other). Or head shake. Guys that would go alot faster than me would put steering dampners on the triple clamp to keep the bars from being ripped out of their hands during a moto. I had a sporster with a sidecar on it that wasnt aligned very well and if you let go of the bars they would shake back and forth violently if you didnt grab them back quick enough.

yup those are all the same thing,

minor= headshake

major= tank slap

I had never heard bar swap but on a dirt bike it makes sense.

there are also linear dampers that mount to the steering head and one fork that can sometimes save money. but on some bikes (primarily naked from what I can tell) you will find them mounted to a hard point on the side of the bike and attaching to a fork tube.

some newer bikes are coming with electronic dampers built into the steering head. (Honda CBR bikes and some others) these electronically increase the dampening according to speed keeping the steering light for low speed maneuverability and from what I was told will also increase it if the bars are moved too great a distance at too rapid a speed.

Wow, what can anyone say after seeing that bike.Thank God you had some protection.Lesson to be learned here folks.Good luck...
