ok, thank you I'll do that. So it is supposed to be used to connect a battery charger, overnight for easy starts in the morning?

if it is identical to the one in link you provided i would remove it and throw it in the trash. why? it is NOT fused. a proper battery tender harness is fused with 5 amp spade fuse on positive side of the harness. if you have a deltran tender go to their site and buy the correct harness. if not then buy a tender and it will come with the harness. OR cut the red/positive wire and install inline buss fuse. you can do that mod for $1

No, it is not the identical cable. I only used the picture to show what type of connection it is, since I don't know the name. I believe it is hooked up correctly, because it sounded like the former owner has been using it.
I just googled tender harness. I believe I know what you are getting at. Looks like it has something like a liitle box on the cable like that:

That is probably the amp you meant?!
So if it is hooked up correctly will it help me to start the bike in the winter??
Thanks

If it is a tender and hooked up correctly, you need the other end that plugs into a wall plug. It just keeps the battery charged up when in storage and also helps keep the battery healthy by slowly charging it but not overcharging it.

Thank you Sir. One more thing, The guy at the part store told me I'd need some kind of a battery charger thing. Are you saying I only need to buy another cable that goes to my wall plug? If so, what's the name for it so I can look for it online.

Do you have the part that goes from the plug under your seat to a wall plug? A tender has two parts, one stays on the bike attached to the battery with a quick attach plug and the other goes from the quick attach plug to a wall plug.

SAE plugs can also be used to run other items like the link below.

stephen: go to amazon or ebay and type in battery tender junior........OR battery tender jr
just buy one and it will answer all your questions. they're 1/2 the price they were 5 years ago

Thank you guys, I think I know what I need now. I got the part connecting to the battery, all I need is the part that goes to the plug. They are cheap enough on amazon. [up]
