I was thinking of mounting my passport 9500 using my rear reflector, metal piece and mounting it where my mirror/signals used to be. Any suggestions?

I have since sprayed it black. Other than that its unchanged. It's worked out great and was free. Just used a bit of extra metal I had laying around.

It's a great detector and has saved me MANY times in my car and a few on the bike. It's really sensitive. On the bike is different because it's harder to hear, so I have the heads up display, but it's not very "heads up". One time me and this touring beemer were hauling ass through traffic down the freeway. We both had detectors, but he had a cobra from what it looked like and his was hooked up to his helmet. I got my warning and slowed down almost a half mile before he did. He still had enough warning to slow down and not get the ticket, but I just thought it was funny how much longer it took for him to slow his ass down.

Off topic..... Did you know that "beemer/beamer" is a slang term for BMW bikes, not cars? "Bimmer" is the term for BMW cars.

Edit: and yes, you get what you pay for. I would say... anything over $300 will be a good detector and it will be worth every penny. Anything less is a entire waste of money. I've had cheap detectors, I know.

I'll have to find the pics of my v1 . Biggest thing you need a secondary indcator light or sound feed in your helmet

I used to have a fairly cheapo Cobra radar detector mounted to a prior bike (ST1100). It was about $90, and mounted with an aluminum angle piece with velcro glued to it and another piece of velcro glued to the plastic behind the windscreen. Generally it worked fine for me and saved my ass a number of times. I had a headset speaker in my helmet with a wire and jack connecting to the detector. What I found to be a pain was that the audio feed on my detector, and I suspect most, was a "micro jack", and most headsets for mp3 players use a "mini jack". This required splicing, soldering, etc. Using an adapter was not reliable because the signal cut in and out when you wiggled it. It's really irritating to find that during the last half hour of riding your radar detector signal hasn't been getting to you. I ride with ear plugs on rides of any length, and found that if I cranked the volume all the way up on the radar detector I could hear it well enough through ear plugs. I tried using an mp3 player along with having a radar detector, but couldn't reliably hear the radar detector with tunes playing. Ideally I think you want custom fitted earplugs with built in speakers and the device that gives you multiple audio inputs with a priority for one (the radar detector), so other inputs cut out when that one is activated.

I did know this, two of the guys I work with that own Bimmers do not. One is the VP so Im not sure if it would be a good idea to correct him.

Anyone know what a "Blump" is?

Wow Jobe, not sure how you get that from Bimmer. Your mind certainly works different than most.
