One of my instructors from MMI was retired from The Harley/Buell test facility and he told us they would wear the pegs down on the XB's to the point of them needing to be replaced. Is anyone able to scrape pegs? Anyone have proof?

One of the guys I ride with has ground his down (2003xb12s) it def can be done and is by a lot of riders.

Sure can, but it is dangerous as hell to do so on the streets as you have to be leaned way the hell over.

I hit my boot one time in a turn, scared the crap out of me as it felt almost like someone grabbing your foot, Oh and I dont have peg spades on my bike so if those were on I might just have scrapped the peg but otherwise dragging a boot is to much in its self.

As far as proof, this looks plausable.

I really wish I could find something to make some peg spades out of that were soft and sparky maybe like magnesium. That way it would look like a sparkler if I could get it to touch.

Browland, funny story. A buddy of mine raced RZ Cup back in the late eighties. Rather than making sparks he would duct tape crushed beer cans to his knee sliders. When entering a corner while following another rider he would jam his knee on the ground. It sounded exactly like a bike crashing behind the lead guy and he would stand the bike up allowing my bud to scoot by on the inside. He said it worked everytime!! Cheating? Naaa, it's called a "competitive advantage" Wayne

That is a crazy lean angle! Impressive. I would think with all the dirt, oil, grease, and sand on the roads you are setting yourself up for failure. I have never scraped but I am pretty conservative rider.

Sucky story to share but My first experience scraping pegs was on my old roommates fz-6. I rode with a friend to a bar was supposed to ride home with roomie. Roomie was on bike and I didn't know it. Had an extra helmet so had to ride bitch home. He had 2 drinks thought it would be fun to scare the **** out of me. He took the 90 degree turn onto our road like a maniac had sparks fly in my face at this point from the rider pegs. Sucked

Looking back if that went worse I would have hated to die riding bitch on a bike with a guy leaving a bar... Hindsight is always 20/20[sad]

I had a Nightster for a short while, you couldn't NOT scrap on that thing! I have not touched down on an XB yet, but I get close enough for me.

Eslick sure gets down! I love this pic:

Well this depends on if you have the little nubs still screwed into the pegs or if you are straight up dragging the pegs into the ground. I used to hit the little nubs, since removed them, and have ended up hitting my toe on the reflective markers on corners. Dragging the actually peg is for people who actually know how to put a knee down.

I scraped a few times on concrete with my XB, tilted the CR over in the shop to see the possible lean angle... don't think I'll ever get those to touch the ground. Does anyone know the lean angle of an 1125?

48 to 50 degrees depending on the compression of forks, 48 hard compressed, 50 on the lighter side.

I will often tap my feelers down on the road when I turn into parking lots from the street But that is with my low pegs installed, when I have my traction pegs it isn't an issue. I am going maybe 5MPH when I do it, but actually dragging a peg or feeler? I have yet to do that, I was fairly close on a highway ramp with my traction pegs but I think we can all agree it was a stupid move on my part. oil road debris cars poor road surface etc... I made the mistake of riding angry and would recommend not doing it, I am probably lucky I kept it on two wheels.

I put me feelers back on after a few of those. that is a scary sensation at any speed.
