.... really.... Maybe THERE IS FULL TENSION ON YOUR BELT.

Rearstand/Jack your bike up. Loosen pinch bolt for rear axle, JUST A FEW TURNS. Almost take your axle almost all the way out. The belt tension with slack up. That pulley will come off no problem.

P.S. (edit) Don't smoke a joint before you work on your bike.

and if that still doesnt work, the pulley will come off if you put your hand under the wheel and push up as hard as you can while sliding the arm off the bolts. putting it back on i get the edge of the belt started and muscle it on.

I didn't take the pulley off. I used a socket with an extension and an elbow to loosen those nuts. I put my new hawk on the same way. Good luck.

YO Hemp....you don't need to take the pulley off. just like rustyross said, find the right combo of socket and extensions and you can get in there to get those nuts off. Ive had mine off twice to paint, and never removed the pulley.

Do what gsx said, Jack up the rear, loosen the pinch bolt, but then loosen your axle like 14 rotations.
I've taken My pipe off 3 times as well as changed the belt once, the first time I didn't remove the tensioner and it was just as much of a bitch to get the pipe back on as is was to take it off.

It will pop right off if you loosen the axle!

when you put your exhaust back on adjust the clamps so you can get to them easier next time.

If you have to just thke some cable cutters and cut the bands. You will have to buy new ones but oh well.
Simple!!!!!!

Ok, soi i am NO mechanic, but my bike is jacked up, pinch bolt loosened, but now hod to i looosen/remove my axle? do i get a gigantic allen wrench for that what looks like a bolt in my axel or just push out the axel? still confused thanks guys

I lost my tool set so I bought a piece off of eBay that fit inside the axle for under $20 bucks. They have the same tool on American sport bike for $40.
Don't remove the axle just loosen it 14 rotations, mark your tool so u can count the rotations.

I've heard of guys taking 2 big nuts (the size of the axle) spining them on a bolt and using that. May need to put a little tac weld on there??

Some 7/8 inch nuts on a threaded rod will work.... or a 7/8 hex wrench, never have seen one tho. Rear axle is standard thread and the front is LEFThand threads.

22mm axle tool or 7/8 like the one included in the tool kit.

when you do get them off, put them on the other side when you put them back on.

You can use a spark plug socket, and turn it around backwards. You would put a 3" extension thru it to use with a ratchet.

I really appreciate everyone's help and me and my buddy gave it our all but I simply cannot her it off... I cant get that bolt in my axle to move at ALL... might just have to take it to the shop

Just cut the straps off. Theyre supposed to be single use anyways, and theyre about $4 a piece at an auto parts store.
