Can't get the forks to slide up.

Trying to lower my 04 xb12s. I got the lowers seat and shorter rear shock. I am trying to slide the trees down the forks and all I can get is 2 1/2 marks to show on the fork markers. I have about a 1/2-3/4" left before I hit the handle bars.What is holding me up?

how are you trying to adjust it?
is it still aligned?

There are large C-clips on the on the fork tubes that will not allow you to slide them up any farther. They are topped out on the triple tree.

Is it ok to remove the clips and gain the 3/4". If so what is the best way to remove them? Should I just let it be bottomed on the clips? Thanks for the help!

Do not remove the clips. Yes it is fine to have them resting on the clips
