SOooooo ive decided to go ahead and go with the ceramic coating on my header pipe as long as its reasonably priced. Anyone know of a roundabout price? As well as anyone in the dallas fort worth area that does it? Im having a difficult time finding anyone that will do it for some reason.

Not from that area but here its around 130 for the muffler...180 for header and muffler. The black coating was slightly more, I think it was $20.

Unless you wait for the Jet Hot sales specials (and they have them regularly), you'll be paying about $230, shipping included, to have your header coated with their ceramic.

I think I've heard numbers in the $150-200 range, but I could be off. I'd like to do mine someday, but haven't really looked into it yet.

One question, does the ceramic coating keep the running temps of the header down, or is it just a matter of it cooling quicker once you shut the motor off?

americansportbike.com has ceramic coated headers. $170 for polished silver and $210 for black. It should reduce the header temps and keep your right leg cooler.

im going to be ceramic coating mine black this fall. I got a local quote of $175. I have since built my own large powdercoat oven and plan on ceramic coating my own header.

There are quite a few high-quality no-bake ceramic coats.

Check out NIC Industries and Techline Coatings.

For what it's worth.......

I'm not a fan of rattle canning anything, but I used the ceramic high temp paint from an auto parts store on a set of headers for my Raptor 660. When I ride it, I beat the hell out of it and 3 seasons later the headers still look fantastic! I did media blast them first, then acetone, Then blew off with compressed air, then 3 light layers of paint and then baked them in my oven.

For less then $20.

That's my problem is that I hate prep work when it comes to any kind of paint. I'd also be worries that I wasn't able to really coat the inside of the pipes as well as they should be.
