anybody know what I did wrong, i changed out the ecm to a used one and now the bike wont start. it wont even turn over. I did a tps reset but that didnt do anything.

What year bike? What year ECM? Did you check your fuses & relays? What does it attempt to do when try and start

check if the ecm's are for 12's or 9's when I switched motors I momentarily forgot to switch ecm's so I tried to run my 9 with a race 12, wouldn't work, go figure.

The old ecm is an 08 the new one is an 08. I tried putting my old ecm back in and the bike still wont turn over.
Would not doing a tps reset stop the bike from turning over???

Nothing happens when I try to crank, it doesnt even try to turn over. All the grounds look good. I was out riding it the day before and everything was fine. I didnt touch it except to switch the ecm.

Maybe a bad wire by the ecm plugs. If thats all you touched i would think the problem is somewhere in that vicinity. Does it have power, all lights and gauges work?

loose connection at the battery or blown fuse.even with the wrong ecm or a bad one it should crank

Yes irHoly06, that bike should at least turn over. Are you putting on a Brand new ECM from Where? if the ECM was bought SAY from a Dealer/ OR other Seller there may not be any program in it . The Dealer will need to install the Programing(Maps and Epromm)etc.. for the Engine to start.
Could be the used ECM you first removed is hopefully good just something happened when you Powered up the Other Newer ECM after install. Usually the Engine will at least try to turn over not always but I don't know if the Correct ECM is in the Bike at this moment. I've had a few times that Customers thought the ECM was a simple change out plug & play as so to speak. They come blank, & for the money it Should be Ready to go!!!
Unless someone here on the Forum has an 08+ Map/epromm for an SAY -Y152.AM 07256 STOCK ECM number for some 08 XBs and so on That's right out of my Manual. Make sure the ECMs 34- pins on ecm Both plug recepticals are the same none are accidently bent, and the plugs are correctly matched.
Check your main Ignition Fuse 1st then try your bike again, with Original ecm. Hope it's an easy fix.*Jimi
