Changing just the rear shock for a 03 firebolt

I read your post on what parts you used to lower your firebolt, but I was wondering what would happen if I just changed the rear shock to the K0410.1AE? Don't know much about motorcycles and the reasoning behind it is it would be a lot cheaper if I could just lower the back seat. Thanks for any help you may be able to provide me. I have a 03 firebolt.

I wouldn't recommend it. It would negatively effect the handling...
