my 04 xb12s check engine light is coming on intermittenly. it comes on and sometimes goes right off. sometimes it comes on and stays on for 5 mins. the error code is 21 if i remember correct, this is the exhaust valve, i have a jardine so this is no longer active correct or no. the bike seems to be running very well im just confused because theres been an aftermarket exhaust on the bike for the last 25,000 miles, anyone else seen this or have any suggestions. help is greatly appreciated

Your valve emulator is probably going bad. I'd use ECMSpy & turn it off and be done with it.

I do not own ecm spy, is here a problem with leaving it for a bit. will it just keep the light on, or do damage to the bike

If that is the only active code than it just keeps the light on. No worries for short term.

I had that problem and found that the wire to the exhaust valve had rubbed on the battery terminal and was shorting. Everytime it touched, it turned on my check engine light.
