When checking the oil on the rear swing arm does it need to be level or on the kickstand?

should say in the manual, when the bike is cold and on the kickstand (on my bike) the oil is right at the bottom of the dip stick, thats how I know im good.

i always check mine cold 1/8 of an inch from the bottom of the dip stick when cold always = full when hot on my bike.seems like everyone does it a little different.there are a lot of threads on this subject.

It is an 2005 XB12s, I am headed out to check it cold this morning, hopefully its 1/8 of an inch from the bottom of the dip stick!

Thanks

Since our dipsticks are made of plastic, why in the hell did they not make the white? It would have made them so much easier to read.

I've had my XB for about 3 years now, and I have NEVER had accurate readings on my dipstick...Its so annoying!

/end rant :D

It seems the readings are different from one bike to the next so upon previous advice I would say change the oil and filter. Put in 2.5 quarts as the manual says and get your readings. Then you will know exactly where "full" is on your bike.
