As some of you may have read, I did a bunch of small bods on my 07 XB12 in the last 2 weeks. Well, yesterday I took the bike for a spin and came home to finish up. What I did last night was unplug the front brake switch because it was bad. I ordered a new one but did not put the old one back in. I also took off the clutch cover to paint the pulley. I then took off the tensioner to paint a small circle on it. I reinstalled the tensioner and put the pulley cover back on. I went to roll the bike into its storage corner and the clutch won't engage. I visibly checked the cable at the lever and it looks fine. I checked it at the primary cover and it looks good there too. Any guesses as to what happened. Note that no other mods were done after I had already ridden it, just what it says above. Thanks

I have been searching forums and relooking at everything on the bike...so far no solutions.

And I screwed up in the title obviously...clutch won't disengage is what it should say.

Is resistance normal when pulling handlebar clutch lever?
Re-connect clutch cable to clutch actuator-arm (inside primary)?
Adjust clutch actuator/rod free-play?
Adjust clutch cable free-play?

Well, I think I figured it out. It is weather related...to darn cold. I read on another forum that this is a common problem with Buells??? I started it with the clutch lever pulled in and put it in first. I didn't lurch forward and stall like I was expecting. I let the clutch out slow and everything seems fine. Once I let it warm up for about 30 seconds I put it in first and pulled lever in and tried moving the bike. It was still tough, but easier than before. Hopefully that is all it is.

I am having the exact same problem now. My clutch will not dis engage. It can't be weather related for me because it is still 80. My bike will not roll forward in gear with clutch pulled in. It is not the adjustment. Also when I start the bike, pull in the clutch and put it in gear the bike jumps, and stalls. Driving me crazy. [mad]

lvn2wheels, your issue is an adjustment problem. you probably have to adjust the inner release, under the primary. very simple to do.

there is a good video showing how to do it on the forum here, from Dave i believe.
