alright guys sorry i haven't responded much been swamped at work (im a second shift machinist in Anaheim, CA) and home. machine will be delivered next Thursday afternoon and i will most likely spend next weekend dialing it in and getting it to my liking. again if anyone has there own files or drawings pm me and we can work something out. Im currently working on getting my hands on a few different parts to start programming for. this whole adventure started with my love of buells and my need to have good looking functional parts. Im willing to tackle just about any project that comes my way.

Rear hidden caliper bracket would be a nice addition also.

All of this would be easy (and fun) to draw up in caad, but the problem is in stuff like patents. If I remember correctly, there was a guy who was machining the hidden rear calipers and was contacted by Dark Horse (when they owned the patent) to stop. If I'm wrong, someone, please feel free to correct me.

Just a FYI the hidden brembo bracket is available at asb for $70 I don't see it getting much cheaper.

As far as patents go i believe as long as i manipulate designs and such i should be free and clear of most issues. I have slowly seen the decline of machined goodies for buells, correct me if im wrong on that.

you have to check the current patent/copyright status of parts and products. The licenses expire if not maintained. To apply for a new patent requires demonstration of "new art". That means a development/improvement to the design to allow to be used in a manner not originally intended/covered by the original patent holder. E.G., re-design of a caliper bracket to allow use on different motorcycles is not "new art" as it is still a caliper bracket. Modifing the material of manufacture may improve a products application or design capability, but does not change the original intent of design. Of course all of this will come into play with intent to distribute or manufacture for gain. We are such a small community of the motorsports world that a very low volume would probably not be noticed. All that will change when H-D's support falls away at the end of the required support agreement that occurred when H-D shut down Erik. A technically an un-addressed market opens up for part supply unless someone buys the rights from H-D.

unless someone buys the rights from H-D

I'll be all over that....when I win the lottery:D

take a number folks...that's my son starting off a career at 18 yrs old. I'm second in line for shift/brake levers, etc.since he'll get the first set:D:D:D

aha, im going to keep the cost of parts low because my overhead is much much lower than most shops or websites. guess i forgot to mention but as thrstrmech stated i am 18 and have purchased my own cnc machine to go into business for myself. i love machining in the aerospace industry but theirs no money in it when im working for someone else. the motorcycle part of machining is more of a hobby as i advance into the more advanced industries. 10k for a used cnc machine was a small price to pay to get into my own business! i will be taking Thursday off this week to meet the machine movers and pick up the machine

wow, wish I had $10K to blow when I was 18. LOL. Good job. Look forward to purchasing some parts from you.

thrstrmech- Pat on the back. Sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders. I'm sure to no small part from you.

Hey guys shoot me a pm with your ideas. Already got one.being in the aerospace industry and undestanding that anything less then perfect is unacceptable i back everything i machine and dont let anything less then perfect leave my hands, and that will be carried over to the motorcycle parts i make at home. A blessing and a curse ahah. I wouldnt sell anything i wouldnt run on my own motorcycle,Really want to get me hands on an xb but i will stick to my blast. Just had the head sent out for some stage 2 work as a matter of fact. I have been having Issues with solidworks on my computer, so im trying to sort that out. Taking care of what i have to so i can do what i want to on my machine (ie around the house stuff and work)
