Coil highout put or MSD options?

Ive searched this and another recent thread has made me think about this idea, has anyone come up with an ignition system mod? Im kinda thinking why mess with something that works though
 
The factory ignition systems are very powerful! I have pushed extremely high cylinder pressures without any ignition breakdown from the factory ecm, coil, wires and even factory 10R12A spark plugs. My last engine developed ~190hp and 150 ft/lbs with the stock ignition system and, again, I will be relying on the stock ignition to produce over 220hp with the new engine. I don't think you would gain anything by changing any ignition components.
 
I've never had a coil output issue with my xb's. Even a couple years back when I mounted an extra ihi Turbo that I'd been using for mockup somewhere else an ran it tested and tuned it til the Turbo crispied. Stock coil runs fine to 7600rpm for sure. I did some investigation when I started tinkering with my wet kit tho and the dis2 coils were the cheapest most powerful EPOXY filled solution I could find for a problem that ended up never popping up. At this point after so many miles I'd just put on another stock one I have layin around
 
Glad you guys added your thoughts cause this time next year ill be doing a turbo based on ericz setup but low boost. I dont need 190hp.... 220hp!? Youre nutz
 
2hy, you have any pics of your turbo setup? I've never seen or heard of your setup in the past.
 
Never did take any pics of it Eric. Just a clamped on 90° with a four bolt flange to an ihi off a Capri xr1. Lasted about 4 mo I never got a chance to pretty it up like ur set up. I was just playing with shop scraps to b honest. It was an ugly lil thing with internal wastegate feedn the bike with a radiator hose
 
If I went back in that direction I'd surely use something with ballbearings especially if I got my hands on a aerocharger I'd b tempted. Either way at the very least for a 984cc w/ 5.5psi the extra fuel enrichment applied with boost refrencing ( because the bike wants to cruise around 3k) would kill a tank of gas in about 120 mi fill up to fuel light. Right now I get 160 to 175.
