So I was stoked to ride my bike in this morning as it hit like 70 last night here in DC, but this morning, at about 40, i still can't feel my fingertips from the highway. cause of all the snow, i pretty much didn't ride all winter so my hands were totally unprepared.

i want to buy some cold weather gloves and was hoping for suggestions. waterproof or not, just want a good buy on some super warm windproof gloves.

thanks in advance.

I used my snowboarding gloves when it got down to the 30's - a little bulky but warm. Me thinks I should probably get heated hand grips next winter...[smirk]

referring to the scarabs:

I have a set of the gloves very similar to those, just their summer version, and I absolutely love them

they are a little faded and sun bleached now, with almost 20k miles on them and still holding up

I ride all year and last year my hands got really cold during the winter. I got a pair of heated gloves last summer at half price and put a powerlet outlet on my bike. The glove wires look a bit weird, but my hands have stayed warm. At 15 my thumbs got a bit cold, but not terribly uncomfortable

I've heard the heated ones are real nice. Randy Hawkins told me his plug into the pig tails he put on his battery terminals, run up through his jacket, then down the arms to the gloves.

I use the Cortec Scarabs as well. Used mainly for short rides (less than 30 minutes) in temps down to about 20. Fingers and hands would still get a bit cold, but tolerable.

I recommend heated grips and keeping your normal gloves. They actually work better with thinner gloves so the heat can get through(well, medium thickness, not so much thin) and then you can still feel your controls. After putting them on my last bike, I'll put them on any other bike I ever own.

I've also had heated grips, which were by far the warmest thing ever. My hands could sweat when it was 25 degrees out if I turned them up all the way, which I did. I also had the vest and chaps, all of which hooked together inside your jacket, so you just had one small cord coming out from under your jacket and under your seat, it was pretty tidy.

Dude. Any set of decent winter gloves is good. You go buy a $10 set of silk glove liners and they are AMAZING.

lemme say this again.

SILK GLOVE LINERS!!!!!!!!!!!
