what is the best way/ do people recommend to bump up the compression on an xb9r?

do you have to modify the ecm any more than a race ecm? and if so what is recommended

You might! but don't quote me on that!! I think that more than likely you will have to do something

After you have the head milled or install domed pistons, you will want to take it to a quality shop that has a dyno and the ability to flash your ECM. Doing either of these mods is fairly expensive and not spending that last little bit of change on a dyno run and ECM adjustment would be kind of silly. Just my opinion, though...
