Hi guys,

I've been away for a while, but I was still working on trying to improve my Buell ECM knowledge. (not gave up yet:))
I'm also busy preparing a file to add to my previous post (https://www.buellxb.com/forum/showthread.php?55466-One-more-time-on-ECM) where to show by MLV screen shots and comments many things that seems to be nonsense in my logs view. (for anybody interested:))
In the mean time I prepared some slightly modified fuel/spark maps to try.
Here I've got big questions I'm worried about:
The maps has been done with Tunerpro RT V.5 and it saves in *.bin.
I saw that my original map downloaded with ECMdroid is saved in *.xpr format, and in that way it has been read and modified by Tunerpro.
Now, how to upload on ECM the modified maps with ECMdroid???
Shall I use the saved *.bin file or so I am going to destroy my ECM?
Have I to use some software to convert the file?
Is it enough to rename the *.bin file changing extension to *.xpr?
I searched a lot on the forum and found something about, but not enough to make me sure about what I shall do.
Please, knowledge guys, would you like to point me in the right direction?

Tanks a lot

Osvaldo

Osvaldo I'll check how i do mine when I get home later on today.
In the mean time lowkey might chime in and give you an answer.

Did I say something wrong?
Should I change my fuel pump?

Hi lunaticfringe,

I am seeing two of your post answering to my question disappearing from here.
That's make my answer to you a nonsense.
I'm very sorry for that.

Osvaldo I never had luck converting tunerpro maps to ECMdroid. The only way I have been uploading and downloading is using tunerpro and ecmspy. I know this is a crappy answer, but maybe some one will chime in with something other then off topic videos/memes.

Ok cossack84,

it seems to me that as Tunerpro can load and read straight away *.xpr from ECMdroid (through *.xdf), it should be possible revert the process.
Let's hope somebody knowing more likes to share.

thank you very much any way.:)

Hi cossack84,

I got an answer to my question from Buelltooth guys even if they are not directly involved with tunerpro!
They said: If you modify an .xpr file in tunerpro and then click the “save bin” button it will stay .xpr. Don’t click “save bin as”
It works.
On PC, I saved a copy of my stock EEPROM (xpr) in a different folder, reamed it adding 'to be mod', open and modified with tunerpro, saved with "save bin" (it stay xpr), renamed it changing 'to be mod' in 'mod1', moved back to original folder, sended by mail to the smartphone, downloaded there in the right folder, and I got it.

I hope this can help some of us willing to have a better bike without throwing away bags of money changing half of the bike, because if just in case...
This is of course not to say than anybody should work on without knowing what is doing to his engine, but for the rest if is not broken I don't like to change it...:)

Awesome thanks for letting us know!

These files are fully identical. It's as simple as renaming them.

Hi gunter,

I am not expert at all in this matters so I'm always afraid to damage something.
I ear that how both files are write is the same, but I also read somewhere that if you rename bin in xpr and try to load it on ECM you are going to make it usless.
Of course I can't tell if it is true or not, I just tried to choose the safest way.

Thanks, Osvaldo

Hi Gunter,

excuse me to re-open the tread, but at the right time I could not remember were I read this: "However, DO NOT change a BIN file to an XPR file extension. For instance, do not change a “stockecm_1.bin” file to “stockecm_1.xpr” file. If it is loaded to the ECM, the ECM will be damaged. ". That's why I did not take the short way you told, and that I was aware. It's from https://www.buelltooth.com/uploads/5/8/3/5/58359505/tunerpro_rt_final_draft.pdf Pag.27.
Of course I'm not the one that can say if it's true or not, but just in case...I took the long way.
Anyway thank you for you attention.

Of course you can do as you like. But, just as a side note: I created EcmSpy, I designed the XPR file format and I talked to Mark Mansur how to best integrate Buell's ECM to Tuner Pro. Ask those "internet experts" what they did. And I can safely tell you: there is no "long way" which would make any sense. Simply because these files are not only indentical, they are also meant to be identical. And the easiest way to achieve this is to use them as they are: xpr files.

Hi Gunter,

I did not know that!!!
My honor to have your attention!

Thanks a lot
