I note on my new 08 12Ss that the cooling fan runs for about 5 minutes after I stop the engine.
Normal from what I hear especially as I live in the tropics.
The other night I shut the bike down via the key, the fan came on as usual, then turned the key straight back on to check the odo.
when I turned it off again the fan did not come on.
Odd I thought, maybe in the 10 seconds I had the bikes electrics turned on the engine cooled enough not to need the fan.
Today I tried the same thing.
The bike has been for a good run and was nice and hot.
I turned the bike off with the key, the fan came on, turned the electrics back on and straight off again.
Sure enough the fan did not start this time.
Seems as though I can overide the cooling fan if I turn the engine off with the key, then turn the power on then off again immediately.
Any body else found this?
No mention in the book.
I can only assume its so you can shut the fan down in a situation where you dont want it to run for the noise???
